Review Game Spyro Reignited Trilogy

After debuting a first look at the Spyro Reignited Trilogy earlier this year to showcase just how much work has gone into Toys for Bob’s remakes, the developer is offering a new look at the evolution of the lovable purple dragon.

IGN can exclusively debut two new side-by-side comparisons of the original Spyro the Dragon and Toys for Bob’s reimagined version below. Both quick videos highlight the environmental detail, enemy style, and Spyro’s updated-yet-classic look. Both are from the first Spyro game to be included in the remastered trilogy, the self-titled Spyro the Dragon, which Activision first showcased in the trilogy's debut trailer.

IGN can also exclusively debut a few pieces of concept art for the Reignited Trilogy, in addition to art already released by Toys for Bob. The new looks include the crystalized dragons Spyro must locate, as well as the dock at which players first meet Marco the Balloonist. All of the art is from the Artisans Homeworld stage.

Since its initial debut, Activision has been revealing side-by-side comparisons of Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the original game.

Activision revealed Spyro Reignited Trilogy earlier this year for a September 21 release on PS4 and Xbox One. The trilogy collects Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, all with remastered visuals, an updated soundtrack, and more quality-of-life gameplay improvements to modernize Spyro's first three adventures.

At the time of its announcement, IGN spoke with the Spyro Reignited devs about capturing what fans loved about those first three games, and dove deep into Spyro's first trailer with some of the team from Toys for Bob. And if you're new to Spyro, or maybe haven't played those original games, IGN wrote about why Spyro's return is such a big deal.
A series of leaks appear to have revealed the official title, release date and a series of screenshots from the much-rumoured Spyro the Dragon remaster collection.

According to an Activision listing on Amazon Mexico, the game will be called Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, has been developed by Skylanders studio Toys for Bob, and will be released on September 21.

The leaks have been lent credence by the fact that the image used in the box art has been found on the dormant Spyro website.

The Spyro remaster has been rumoured for some time, and we even got sent a mysterious egg in the mail that seemed to point to the project. All we really have to wait for now is an official announcement.
