Review Game Biomutant

New details about Experiment 101's open-world RPG BioMutant have been revealed - most prominently about the game's bionic unlocks.

Speaking at PC Gamer Weekender, head of studio Stefan Ljungqvist hosted a presentation of the game, revealing new details in the process.

He went into particular detail about the game's bionics, unlockable items earned by helping certain characters in the world.

The presentation shows brief clips of gliding wings, a jetpack (which allows for ground pound area-of-effect attacks), a power fist that can be used for dashing attacks and, most inventively, a bow that fires arrows the user can grab onto, flying into cliff faces and creating climbing points.

There's also mention of a mech that allows the player to survive in the Dead Zone, an area with no oxygen, as well as psychic powers such as telekinesis, levitation, and a bullet-deflecting bubble shield.

We've previously said that has the potential to be a fantasy Just Cause, and Ljungqvist's talk helps build on that idea - not least when he mentions that the weapon customisation we previously saw can result in over 500,000 combinations.

He consistently mentions player freedom, the ability to combine powers and bionics to create ability combos, and even about leaving open the option for players to leverage mechanics to do things the developers didn't think possible.

We're sure to learn more about how deep that freedom goes before Biomutant is released this year.
Biomutant is an open-world action RPG from the some of the minds behind Just Cause 3 and Mad Max. Published by THQ Nordic, the upcoming adventure puts you in control of an adorably badass creature in a lush, wild setting.

Coming our way in 2018, TrustedReviews has compiled all the news, release date info, gameplay, trailers and more that you need on Biomutant.

What is Biomutant?
Set in a post-apocalyptic universe filled with humanoid animal creatures, Biomutant is an open-world RPG that combines exploration and combat across an ambitious setting.

Biomutant release date
It’s scheduled to launch in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Biomutant gameplay – How does it play?
Described as a “kung-fu fable” by developer Experiment 101, Biomutant allows you to customise your character with different robotic attachments, mutations and weapons, ranging from samurai swords to full-blown assault rifles. Experimentation is key, with each new bit of loot aiming to enhance the gameplay experience. Character customisation has been compared to the likes of an MMO, offering a staggering number of player options.
Exploration is a big component of Biomutant, and the way you can travel across the world is surprisingly varied. The land before us can be traversed on foot, mech, air balloon, jet skis and even a UFO. Hopefully, they all handle well and allow for a bit of customisation.

There will be three individual worlds to explore, including an underworld and even a miniature solar system that we hope is filled with different characters and side quests to conquer.

Biomutant story – What’s it about?
A plague is spreading across the world of Biomutant, poisoning the land and slowly killing the precious Tree of Life. This dilemma begins to turn neighbouring tribes against one another. The only way to succeed is for you to bring them together in an effort to conquer the greater evil.
